Reader Praise!

I wanted to give a special shout-out to one of our best readers: Newlywed Next Door! First off, she is a regular commentor, she has written a guest post, and she has definitely increased our readers by featuring us on her blog! Thanks!

I wanted people to know that she just finished a year of tracking and budgeting all on her own! She details her experience here, but I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! It takes a lot of hard work, patience and dedication to hawkishly track your budget for 12 months!

I wanted to see if any of our other followers had a financial success story they would like to be featured on Lean with Green! What made you realize you needed a change? What was the milestone you reached? Share in the comments or write us a note at leanwithgreen@gmail.com and if you'd like, we'll make you your own entry deserving of your success!

  1. I wouldn't call this a story, but I am working on paying my car off early. It should be paid off within the next two months, which means I would be 10 months ahead of schedule. It's a good feeling!

  3. We have had a good year too...we paid off our car 2.5 years early, refi-ed our home, disputed our taxes...so all of that added about $600 more that we can save each month!

  6. We're definitely trying to be lean with green! While consuming more green (vegetables)! (haha, i'm such a dork)

First, we're trying to get rid of our credit card debt (not a ton, but still a good amount), then pay off my car, and finally start saving for a house! phew.
I'm so glad I found this blog!

  7. Found your blog thru Newlywed Next Door and I LOVE it! Here's the short version of our story!

My husband was laid off in April because of the economy. We panicked because we didn't have much in savings. We made it without having to put anything on a credit card, but it was a major wake up call! My husband wants to go to seminary and our goal is to do it debt free. In order to do that, he is working three jobs and we are saving more money than we ever have. We've cut our budget significantly: cut cable, grocery bill, eating out, shopping, etc. We are now saving at least 40% of our take home income while paying off my car debt (our only debt) early. It's a long and slow process, but it's amazing how much we've put in savings and paid off on our car in just 5 months!
