In This Economy...

I probably hear someone start or end a sentence with "in this economy" at least once a day, and 9 times out of 10, it's negative. Understandably. Circumstances are still pretty bleak for many. But, being the optimistic person that I am, I thought I'd play Mad Libs with this phrase and talk about how I've benefitted and learned from the recession. Feel free to add yours in the comments!

In this economy....

my husband lost his job, but accepted a new one at a great company.
I have begun paying myself first.
we bought our first house.

In this economy...

I have become an expert coffee maker.
I have learned more about myself.
I am very grateful for what I have.

In this economy...

saving money has meant being better to the environment.
I put a priority on taking better care of my health.
shopping is more fun when there are coupons and sales.

How would you use "in this economy" in a sentence? Have you gained anything in this recession?

  1. In this economy... I lost 30% value in my home. Ohhh wait, I was supposed to be postive.

    Ok trying again...

In this economy... we got the sweetest kitten ever!
In this economy... I learned to appreciate my job and my company
In this economy... I didn't go into debt!

  2. My stock portfolio lost big, I put more money in, and it gained most of it back, so now I'm only barely behind and will have a great annualized return in 5 years. Yay dollar-cost averaging!

The house I'm going to buy in 1-3 years got cheaper.

I got outside a lot more and loved it! Lost a bunch of weight too :).
